The certificate in European Studies is a flexible, interdisciplinary credential designed to complement many other programs of study in the College of Arts & Sciences and beyond. In completing the certificate, students go beyond the requirements for the European Studies minor in their study of European history, politics, society, cultures, and/or languages.

Certificate requirements

The certificate requires at least 21 credit hours, including the requirements listed below.

  1. Electives. At least 21 credit hours:

    • BUS-C 272 Global Business Immersion-business Communications
    • BUS-D 271 Global Business Analysis-international Business Management
    • BUS-F 272 Global Business Immersion-finance

  2. GPA and Hours Requirements.
    1. Certificate Residency. At least 9 credit hours in the certificate must be completed in courses taken through the Indiana University Bloomington campus or an IU-administered or IU co-sponsored Overseas Study program.
    2. Certificate Upper Division Courses. At least 9 credit hours in the certificate must be completed at the 300–499 level.
    3. Minimum Grade. Except for the GPA requirement, a grade of C- or higher is required for a course to count toward a requirement in the certificate.
    4. Certificate GPA. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the certificate—including those where a grade lower than C- is earned—is required.
