Minor in Polish Studies (POLISTMIN)Russian and East European Institute

Students on Summer 2020, Fall 2020, or Spring 2021 requirements.

Minor requirements

The minor requires at least 18 credit hours, including the requirements listed below.

  1. Polish Language. One (1) course:
  2. Core Courses. Nine (9) credit hours:
    • Independent readings course approved by the Institute (up to 3 credit hours)
    • Additional course(s) that focus predominantly on Poland, with approval of the Institute
  3. Related Electives. Six (6) credit hours:
    • With departmental approval:
      • Additional courses with Polish-related content
  4. Departmental Requirement. Courses taken to fulfill minor requirements must be from at least three (3) different departments.
  5. GPA and Hours Requirements.
    1. Minor Residency. At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be completed in courses taken through the Indiana University Bloomington campus or an IU-administered or IU co-sponsored Overseas Study program.
    2. Minor Upper Division Courses. At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be completed at the 300–499 level.
    3. Minimum Grade. Except for the GPA requirement, a grade of C- or higher is required for a course to count toward a requirement in the minor.
    4. Minor GPA. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the minor—including those where a grade lower than C- is earned—is required.
