Departmental Honors
Students on Summer 2018, Fall 2018, or Spring 2019 requirements CJUS-HON
Requirements
For graduation with a B.A. with honors in criminal justice, students must:
- Earn a GPA of 3.300 or higher in the major upon graduation.
- Complete CJUS-P 399 Reading for Honors. In CJUS-P 399 the student will do exploratory reading in an area of interest, select and develop a research topic, and write a prospectus for the honors thesis.
- Write and present an undergraduate honors thesis under the direction of a faculty advisor. The thesis must be read and approved by a three-person faculty committee. A maximum of 6 hours of credit may be earned for the honors thesis by registering for CJUS-P 499.
- Complete all other requirements for a major in criminal justice.
College of Arts and Sciences Requirements
- Students must have a College GPA of 3.300 or higher to qualify for admission to a Departmental Honors program and to receive Departmental Honors. Units may set a higher College GPA.
- Units establish additional criteria, including admissions procedures, academic performance standards, and whether there are required courses, papers, or projects.
- Students who wish to earn honors in two different units must complete a distinct body of work for each honors notation.
