Minor in History

Requirements
The minor requires at least 15 credit hours, including the requirements listed below.
- History Courses. 15 credit hours:
- Any HIST 100–499
- Minor GPA, Hours, and Minimum Grade Requirements.
- Minor GPA. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the minor—including those where a grade lower than C- is earned—is required.
- Minor Minimum Grade. Except for the GPA requirement, a grade of C- or higher is required for a course to count toward a requirement in the minor.
- Minor Upper Division Credit Hours. At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be completed at the 300–499 level.
- Minor Residency. At least 9 credit hours in the minor must be completed in courses taken through the Indiana University Bloomington campus or an IU-administered or IU co-sponsored Overseas Study program.

Restrictions
The following restrictions apply to the minimum credit hours required in the minor:
- No more than three credit hours in each:
- HIST-X 473 Internship for History Majors
- HIST-X 490 Undergraduate Readings in History
HIST-X 473 Internship for History Majors
- Credits
- 1–3 credit hours
- Prerequisites
- History major; HIST-H 270; and 6 additional credit hours of History coursework
- Description
- Provides opportunity to receive academic credit for a part-time or full-time, paid or unpaid internship experience in any professional field. Requires a learning contract, employer evaluations, and faculty-supervised critical reflections relating the internship experience to the competencies gained in the major. Credits based on at least 50 work hours per credit hour.
- Repeatability
- May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit hours.
- Grading
- S/F grading.
HIST-X 490 Undergraduate Readings in History

- Repeatability
- May be repeated for a maximum of 12 credit hours in HIST-T 495 and HIST-X 490.
This program of study cannot be combined with the following:
- Bachelor of Arts in African American and African Diaspora Studies and History (AAADHISTBA)
- Bachelor of Arts in History (HISTBA)
- Bachelor of Arts in History and African American and African Diaspora Studies (HISTAAADBA)
Exceptions to and substitutions for minor requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
