Departmental Honors
Students on Summer 2024, Fall 2024, or Spring 2025 requirements GER-HON
Students are identified as potential candidates for the honors program through recommendation by a professor in any 300–499 level course. Pursuing an honors designation is particularly valuable if you plan to apply to graduate or professional school.
Requirements
- Honors Tutorial. At least one (1) course:
- GER-G 399 Honors Tutorial
- Honors Thesis. One (1) course:
- GER-G 499 Honors Thesis
- Major GPA. A Germanic Studies major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 is required.
- College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.
Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
Outstanding students with a minimum grade point average of at least 3.500 in German courses and a 3.300 GPA overall may apply for admission to the honors program.
