Requirements
- GPA Requirements.
- Major GPA. Honors candidates must have a GPA of at least 3.700 in the B.A. or B.S. in Human Biology at the time of graduation.
- College GPA. Honors candidates must have a College GPA of at least 3.700 at the time of graduation.
- Undergraduate Research.
- Course Enrollment. Six (6) credit hours over the course of two (2) semesters:

- Prerequisites
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.500 and written consent of supervising faculty member
- Description
- Introduction to research methods and scientific investigation in a student\'s area of concentration. A student is required to complete a written assignment and present an oral report as evidence of each semester\'s work.
- Repeatability
- May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit hours in HUBI-B 490 and HUBI-X 498.
- Additional Expectations. Students will:
- Engage in a year-long independent project involving research, or, a creative activity or service learning project that is contextualized within the scholarly literature during the senior year.
- Write a thesis and an additional paper, per the guidelines of the program.
- Present the results to the public.
- Course Enrollment. Six (6) credit hours over the course of two (2) semesters:
- GPA, Hours, and Minimum Grade Requirements.
- Students must have a College GPA of 3.300 or higher to qualify for admission to a Departmental Honors program and to receive Departmental Honors. Units may set a higher College GPA.
- Units establish additional criteria, including admissions procedures, academic performance standards, and whether there are required courses, papers, or projects.
- Students who wish to earn honors in two different units must complete a distinct body of work for each honors notation.
Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
Students pursuing the B.A. or B.S. in Human Biology must apply to participate in the Departmental Honors program during the spring semester prior to their senior year. These students must also meet the following criteria:
- College GPA of 3.700 or higher.
- Major GPA of 3.700 or higher.
- Both of the following courses must have been completed with a grade of A or A+:

- HUBI-S 200 The Intricate Human, Honors
- One of:
- HUBI-B 300 Human Dilemmas

- Description
- Interdisciplinary study of the human organism including genetics, metabolism and other aspects of physiology, behavior, culture, and environmental context. Case-based approaches to specific content will reflect faculty expertise, student interests, and current issues in human biology. Emphasis is placed on developing scientific literacy and implementing the scientific method.
