Departmental Honors
Students on Summer 2024, Fall 2024, or Spring 2025 requirements EALC-HON
The department's honors program is open to undergraduate students who want to distinguish themselves by engaging in an extended research project with close supervision from a faculty member. Honors students present their research in a departmental symposium held in the spring.
Requirements
- Thesis. To qualify for honors at graduation, the thesis must receive a grade of A- or higher.
- EALC-H 499 Honors Thesis
- Reading for Honors. One (1) course:
- EALC-H 399 Reading for Honors
- Major GPA. An East Asian Languages major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 is required.
- College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.
Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
