Certificate in India Studies (INSTACRT1)Dhar India Studies Program

Students on Summer 2020, Fall 2020, or Spring 2021 requirements.

Certificate requirements

The certificate requires at least 24 credit hours, including the requirements listed below.

  1. Core. One (1) course:
    • Additional courses taught by core Dhar India Studies faculty (with program approval)
  2. Culture, Art, Religion. Four (4) courses:
  3. Society, History, Political, and Historical Studies. Two (2) courses:
  4. Electives. Additional courses, as needed, to fulfill remaining requirements:
    • Additional courses from the Culture, Art, Religion list
    • Additional courses from the Society, History, Politics list
  5. GPA and Hours Requirements.
    1. Certificate Residency. At least 9 credit hours in the certificate must be completed in courses taken through the Indiana University Bloomington campus or an IU-administered or IU co-sponsored Overseas Study program.
    2. Certificate Upper Division Courses. At least 15 credit hours in the certificate must be completed at the 300–499 level.
    3. Minimum Grade. Except for the GPA requirement, a grade of C- or higher is required for a course to count toward a requirement in the certificate.
    4. Certificate GPA. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the certificate—including those where a grade lower than C- is earned—is required.
