Department of Classical Studies

The Department of Classical Studies (CLAS) offers a major in Classical Studies, with concentrations in Classical Languages and Classical Culture, as well as minors in ancient Greek, Latin, and Classical Civilization. Students pursuing the major concentration in Classical Languages or the minor in Latin or Greek have the opportunity to study Greek and Latin literatures and cultures in the original languages. Students pursuing the major concentration in Classical Culture or the minor in Classical Civilization have the opportunity to explore the art, archaeology, culture, and literature of ancient Greece and Rome without any required knowledge of the languages.
