Degrees Awarded with Distinction
Policy statement
The College recognizes outstanding performance in coursework by awarding bachelor's degrees with three levels of distinction: Distinction, High Distinction, and Highest Distinction.
To qualify, students must have completed at least 60 graded (A-F grades) credit hours at Indiana University and have met the minimum College GPA established by the College for the graduation term.
The College will determine the minimum College GPA required for distinction by calculating the GPA floor for the top 3%, 6%, and 10% of each of the three preceding graduating classes. Students who meet these minimum GPA criteria will be awarded Highest Distinction, High Distinction, or Distinction, respectively. The criteria will be set following the Summer graduation cycle and will apply to the following Fall, Spring, and Summer graduating classes.
The GPA criteria are published on the Deadline, Milestones and Term-based Criteria page.
