Departmental Honors--Interdepartmental B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies (Departmental Honors Programs)

Students on Summer 2024, Fall 2024, or Spring 2025 requirements PHIL-HON-R

Outstanding undergraduate majors in the Interdepartmental B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies may be eligible for participation in the Philosophy/Religious Studies Interdepartmental Honors Program.

Requirements

  1. Honors Thesis Directed Research. Complete one (1) of the following sequences with grades of B+ or higher. The sequence chosen should correspond to the department of the faculty advisor:
    • Philosophy Honors Sequence.
      1. Thesis Research. One (1) course:
        • PHIL-P 498 Honors Thesis Directed Research
      2. Honors Thesis Course. One (1) course:
        • PHIL-P 499 Honors Thesis
    • Religious Studies Honors Sequence.
      1. Thesis Research. One (1) course:
        • REL-R 399 Reading for Honors
      2. Honors Thesis Course. One (1) course:
        • REL-R 499 Senior Honors Essay
  2. Honors Thesis. Write a single honors thesis that combines notions from both philosophy and religious studies to be read and graded by an honors committee consisting of faculty from both departments.
  3. Major GPA. A Philosophy and Religious Studies major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 is required.
  4. College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.
