Departmental Honors
Students on Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024 requirements ARTH-HON
The honors program in art history is designed to provide outstanding students with opportunities to pursue independent study and research.
Requirements
- Courses. Both of the following with grade of A- or higher in each course:
- ARTH-A 400 Senior Seminar
- ARTH-A 499 Senior Honors Thesis

- Art History major or consent of instructor
- Description
- Intensive examination of selected topics in art history. Open only to art history majors or with consent of instructor. Required for art history honors students.
- Repeatability
- May be repeated with a different topic for a maximum of 7 credit hours in ARTH-A 400 and FINA-A 400.
ARTH-A 499 Senior Honors Thesis

- Repeatability
- Credit given for only one of ARTH-A 499 or FINA-A 499.
- Major GPA. An Art History major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 is required.
- College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.
Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
Admission to the program is by application, typically during the spring semester of the junior year. Eligible and interested students should consult the director of undergraduate studies.
