Departmental Honors
Students on Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024 requirements ENG-HON
Outstanding students are eligible for admission to the English honors program at the end of their junior year. The program consists of independent reading, research, and writing with tutorial instruction.
Interested students should consult the department's director of honors.
Requirements
- Honors Requirement. During the senior year, students follow individual programs of study culminating in an honors thesis and participate in an honors colloquium.

- May be repeated once for credit.
- Major GPA. An English major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 is required.
- College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.
Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
