Departmental Honors

Students on Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024 requirements JSTU-HON

Students interested in earning departmental honors in the Jewish Studies Program should contact the program's advisor for additional information. An application is required for admission to the honors program.

Requirements

  1. Thesis Contract. Complete contract for JSTU-H 399 and JSTU-H 499, to include thesis advisor’s signature and approval of the Jewish Studies academic advisor.
  2. Reading for Honors.

  3. Honors Thesis Course.

  4. Honors Thesis. Successfully complete and defend a thesis, based on original research.
  5. Major GPA. A Jewish Studies major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 must be maintained.
  6. College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 must be maintained.

Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
