Departmental Honors

Students on Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024 requirements PSY-HON

The department offers special courses for advanced students. The courses allow students to get involved in research programs, conduct an independent research project, and complete an honors thesis.

Requirements

  1. Honors Course Requirement. Two (2) semesters:
    • PSY-P 499 Honors Thesis Research
  2. Independent Laboratory Research Project. It is recommended that students begin the Independent Laboratory Research Project no later than spring of their junior year to allow adequate time for completion before graduation.
  3. Thesis. Successfully complete and defend a thesis based on laboratory research project.
  4. College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.

Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
