The Departmental Honors program in sociology permits outstanding students to pursue important issues and problems in depth.
Requirements
- Honors Seminar First Semester. One (1) course:
- SOC-S 498 Honors Thesis Seminar I

- Consent of honors thesis seminar instructor
- Description
- Research and preparation of senior honors thesis.
- Honors Seminar Second Semester. One (1) course:

- SOC-S 370 and SOC-S 498; and consent of director of undergraduate studies

- Sociology Hours Requirement. Complete at least 30 credit hours in sociology courses.
- Major GPA. A Sociology major grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.500 is required.
- College GPA. A College grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.300 is required.
Exceptions to and substitutions for honors requirements may be made with the approval of the unit's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
