Specialization in Web (Bachelor of Arts in Media)

Requirements

The specialization requires at least 9 credit hours, including the requirements listed below.
  1. Media School Elective. Two (2) courses:
    • MSCH-D 435 Advanced Projects in Web Design
    • MSCH-J 303 Online Journalism
    • MSCH-J 360 Journalism Specialties (approved topics only; see academic advisor)
    • MSCH-J 362 Journalism Multimedia Storytelling
    • MSCH-J 363 Web and Mobile Design
    • MSCH-J 460 Topics Colloquium
    • MSCH-J 464 Infographics
    • MSCH-R 455 Social Media Communication Strategies
    • MSCH-V 334 Current Topics in Media (approved topics only; see academic advisor)
    • MSCH-V 470 Issues in Media (approved topics only; see academic advisor)
  2. Additional Elective. One (1) course:
    • Additional course from the Media School Electives list.
    • CSCI-A 348 Mastering the World Wide Web
    • INFO-I 300 Human-Computer Interaction Design and Programming
    • INFO-I 308 Information Representation
  3. Specialization GPA, Hours, and Minimum Grade Requirements.
    1. Except for the GPA requirement, a grade of C- or higher is required for a course to count toward a requirement in the specialization.
    2. A GPA of at least 2.000 for all courses taken in the specialization—including those where a grade lower than C- is earned—is required.
    3. Exceptions to specialization requirements may be made with the approval of the department's Director of Undergraduate Studies, subject to final approval by the College of Arts and Sciences.
